Marley
Marley
tried many different approaches to music in his early
career. He covered pop hits like "What's New Pussycat."
"And I Love Her." and "Teenager In Love,"
as well as spirituals like "Down By The Riverside."
"Just in Time." and "Wings of a Dove"
in addition to the Wailers own compositions. During
the Sims/Nash period, Bob was given dozens of American
R&B songs to cover, with the specific hope that
at least one of them would provide his break into the
big time American R&B market that he so keenly desired.
These ranged from juvenalia like "Milk Shake and
Potato Chips," to sexy more mature tunes like "Gonna
Get You" Each was given the inimitable stamp of
Bob Marley's passionate vocals. |
