Twenty-eight
unreleased songs by Bob Marley & The Wailers are
the centerpiece of "The Complete Wailers:1967-72
part 1, "a 3-CD boxed set forthcoming on JAD Records.
Concentrating on recordings the band made during it's
early days, the package collects both newly discovered
material and extreme rare 7-inch singles, such as "selassie
Is The Chapel," of which only 26 copies were pressed.
Music historian Roger Steffens , along with French reggae
critic Bruno Blum, penned the set's extensive liner
notes, placing the songs within the social and political
context of the times. "This boxed set is a musical
journey representing a time in our lives when we were
free to explore musical styles and lyrical content,"
comments Bunny Wailer, the last living Wailer, on the
discs. "Collectively, Bob, Peter [Tosh], Rita [Marley],
and myself were creating a unique vision that would
one day become a musical anthem for unity and freedom.
